Debate Union at UCLA

The Debate Union at UCLA is UCLA's only intercollegiate competitive debating organization. UCLA debate competes in the British Parliamentary (BP) debate format and we have experienced great success, including winning the novice division of Nationals 2020 and 2023 and having teams break in national and international competitions, including the 2024 World Championships in Vietnam.

To prepare for tournaments, we practice from 6-8 PM in Dodd Hall 78 on Tuesdays. During practice, we do full debate rounds and sometimes drills to improve our technique.

Outside of practices and competitions, the team spends a lot of time with each other. Our family-like community has retreats, weekly team dinners, and social functions like going bowling or relaxing at the beach.
